Avalon University of Metaphysics

August 27th, 2009 About Us

Alexandra De Avalon and her husband, Richard Abbot, created The Healing Culture Fair in 2002 as an expansion of De Avalon’s thriving day spa, Avalon A Place for Body and Spirit. The one-day, public event brought together a variety of holistic healers. Over the next three years, the Healing Culture Fair grew into a popular, annual Solstice event with 32 booths that attracted about 300 people.

De Avalon and many of the healers who participated in the Healing Culture Fair recognized the need for a central place in the San Francisco East Bay where the Metaphysical Arts could be taught.  Thus, in 2007, The Healing Culture Fair evolved into the University of Metaphysical Knowledge, which became The Avalon University of Metaphysics in January, 2009.

AUM Founder and CEO, Alexandra De Avalon, continues to work with a gifted and dedicated group of Metaphysical Teachers and Practitioners to design and refine the AUM programs and workshops. Under the auspices of The Avalon School of Massage Therapy, a California state licensed vocational school also founded by De Avalon, the AUM offers continuing education hours for massage therapists.  It is De Avalon’s vision to achieve similar certification for nurses, therapists, and other practitioners, so the AUM can offer them CEU courses as well.
